Critical Analysis Reflection
I thought about my thesis statement through the sources that I found, and opinions that I already had based on cancel culture. Initially it was kind of confusing since there’s many avenues that my topic can go down, especially since it has a lot of good points for both sides. But I was able to redefine it and figure it out as I started to gather evidence and learn more about the topic as a whole. My thesis statement partly leaves it open for discussion, but I think I brought up good reasoning to support why I came to that conclusion. Yes, I think that finding sources, especially scholarly ones, was one of my main struggles in this paper due to my topic being not as academically formal. I was able to overcome this by looking a different search engine such as google scholar, using key words, and utilizing databases beyond the standard ones. There were one or two sources that I had to discard while I was conducting my research because I couldn’t find a way to properly implement it into my writing. There were times when I would find a really good source, but I would be suck in trying to find a way to add it to my essay. Another reason would be due to me having trouble summarizing and connecting the information from the source effectively. Even if a source had great insights, if it didn’t blend seamlessly with my essay’s structure, I had to let it go in order to keep things clear and organized. The main challenge I faced in analyzing cancel culture was dealing with lots of different opinions. People see cancel culture in all sorts of ways, and it can get pretty complicated and confusing. To handle this, I looked at a bunch of different sources with different viewpoints. I had to think carefully to include the different opinions in a fair way, making sure I represented multiple angles surrounding cancel culture accurately. The sources I included to support my thesis statement contribute to the strength of my argument by presenting a comprehensive view of the topic. I made a deliberate effort to explore both the negative and positive aspects of cancel culture, drawing examples and providing explanations. I tried to use a balanced approach that allowed me to assess the various perspectives and intricacies surrounding cancel culture that would contribute to a well-rounded and informed thesis.
